What is Your Logo For?
My primary logo is for my freelance graphic and multimedia design business that I am currently constructing.
The circle begins a counter-clockwise circle and before reaching the end, turns to form my last initial. This is obviously a take on the now omnipresent @ symbol which is seen in email addresses, and used in place of the word “at” on various media. But the symbol is different in many ways.
How I Designed It
The main logo is simply known as the “Mark”, which sole purpose is to promote my services, as most logos are designed to do. It also indicates that it is a very electronic business. The “m”, in the very center, is no other than the mind that creates everything (me), right at the apex of everything. The logo begins, though, at the left-hand side, having the viewer follow the circumference of the Mark to the person behind the brand. The circle represents non-linear media, and the old typewriter “m” represents the conventional methods used to create design concepts, such as hand drawing and drafting boards.
Advice
- Never touch a single key or activate a single piece of software until you have a concept, a sketch, and a purpose.
- Always design the old fashioned way...on paper.
- Produce at least 3 different versions before deciding on the final mark.
