What is Your Logo For?
The logo is for my card/stationery and graphic design business.
I illustrate mostly children's designs for invitations, greeting cards and personal stationery. I have plans to branch out to other products.
How I Designed It
I work in Adobe Illustrator using the mouse. After doodling on the computer, I came up with the idea of using an elephant.
The first logo had an elephant ejecting water directly to the name, using black & chartreuse.
It evolved to the elephant standing on top of a little cart with the name on the cart using orange & green colors.
The new logo is simpler using orange & gray with the elephant next to the name.
I think I will be keeping this one because it better represents a combination of children's and adult design.
Advice
- Depending on the nature of the business, create by using an object, shapes, initials, play with typography.
- Make many doodles in black & white, using positive & negative space.
- Organize them making sure that the name is legible.
- Pick the best 3 designs & print them in large and small size.
- Ask around to people with partial design knowledge to give you constructive criticism.
- Do adjustments and your logo should be ready.
