What type of business do you have?

Freelance graphic design business specializing in print design. Helping small businesses get noticed, attract more clients and increase sales through visual and creative design.

What worked in 2009

Networking was the big part of my business success in 2009. Starting my own networking group was a great decision for my business because it helped me get more comfortable talking in front of people. I have gained the strength to sign up with the Chamber of Commerce and enter myself into a referral group. Through there I have met some really great business owners who offered to help me any way they can. Just 3 months at it, I have decided to quit my full time job and pursue my business full-time. I have gained 3 wonderful clients and 2 great referral partners.

What I'd Do Differently

  • Would like to do more networking - be part of women business council, small business council of the chamber of commerce
  • Attend more financial industry events and get more business from financial companies.
  • Sign up with the Southern Saratoga Chamber of Commerce
  • Gain 4 clients per month
  • Attend at least 3 networking events a week
  • Send out either a newsletter or direct mail to my niche.
  • Doing these things I believe will help me get my name out there and meet people that could know someone that needs my services or meet people that need my services. It will help me gain more clients and increase work.

Do you plan to adjust your rates in the new year?

No, rates will stay the same.

Do you have any new ideas for landing new clients?

Referral groups and networking, direct mail marketing.

Do you plan to change your marketing strategy?

No.

Please share any other thoughts or advice.

Being that this is the first year being in the business full-time all by myself, I am looking forward to seeing what I can accomplish in one year.
