Print is a design magazine with a focus on culture, society and the many sides of visual communication. Insightful and sometimes controversial, Print provides a unique look into the world of graphic design
and how graphic design affects the world.
Content
Print, which as been published since 1940, sets itself apart by focusing not just on design but also on the relationship between design and society. The articles look at design on a global scale, with topics such as beauty and books in China and the art of European design. Unique perspectives on unusual topics make Print an interesting read for both graphic designers and the general public. It is a look at culture as much as it is a look at design.Annuals and Competitions
At the end of the year, Print showcases the best work from the U.S. in a regional design annual. This interesting approach awards work broken up into various regions in the country. There are also European and Digital design annuals. Print also has a student cover competition, giving students a great opportunity to appear in the magazine (and one on the cover itself). Prints International Business Graphics Prize is an international award that honors the best design work in various categories.
Subscription Cost
Like many design magazines, Print is relatively expensive from newsstands. A yearly subscription to print (6 issues) currently costs $39, a good value considering the regional design annual costs that much alone. As of this article, Print offers a refund of undelivered issues if you wish to cancel a subscription for any reason.
