If you are looking to use an online portfolio website to showcase your work there are many options to choose from. Having an online portfolio is very important when working in the field of graphic design. Potential employers and clients want a way to quickly get an overview of your work and they will generally expect a designer to have a website. While there are benefits to building a custom portfolio and website, below are some popular sites that make building an online presence quick and easy.

1. Carbonmade

Carbonmade is a website that allows you to build an online portfolio. Carbonmade offers both free and paid plans, and a portfolio search that can help potential clients find your work. Carbonmade currently has almost 400,000 portfolios that include over 900,000 projects with almost 6,000,000 images from illustrators, web designers, graphic artists, product designers and other creatives. The online portfolios on Carbonmade are designed to really highlight images of a graphic designer’s work, bringing the project visuals to the forefront.

2. Behance Network

Members of the Behance Network can create online portfolios to showcase their work and attract new clients. Behance allows you to choose creative fields such as web design and web development to better describe your projects. To make your work easier for others to find you can assign search tags such as web design, clothing and apparel. Behance is a members-only online portfolio website, but anyone can request an invitation by filling out an online form with just an email address and description of work.

3. Sortfolio

Sortfolio is a web designers directory created by 37signals. Adding yourself or your web design company to Sortfolio is quick and easy. A free account allows you to add a company name, logo, budget range, location, link, contact email and a single image that represents your work. There is one account upgrade option on Sortfolio, which is a pro listing for $99 per month. Pro listings are displayed much larger in the directory, with up to six portfolio images instead of one. They are also always above free Sortfolio listings, with the company logo directly on the listing before clicking through to an individual company.

4. FreelanceSwitch

FreelanceSwitch is an online portfolio website with free public profiles. A paid subscription gets you access to add work samples, more skills, multiple URLs, testimonials and a profile image. Paid listings are also higher in search results with more details displayed. This monthly fee also allows you to apply for jobs, making it a good deal at $7 per month, even if it lands you one project.

5. Interhoods

Interhoods is a location-focused website and is great for finding others in your area. The site breaks down seven cities (hopefully more to come) into small neighborhoods, allowing designers and developers to list themselves on a local level. Add yourself using a github or dribbble account, and your profile will list your latest update.
