Create Your Own Gifts with CafePress

Monday December 15, 2008
CafePress makes creating your own holiday gifts easy, with thousands of products that you can add your own flare to. The site is an easy way to set up an online store... you simply create your designs, upload them to CafePress, and choose what products to apply them to, from t-shirts to mugs to baby bibs. So whether you're looking to set up shop and sell to the masses, or just take advantage of the service by making a few custom gifts, it's an excellent tool for holiday "shopping." Personally, I used it a while back to create a single t-shirt, which I then ordered for myself. I was happy with the quality and the easy production process.

I’ve used Cafepress to make products as well. It was easy and I was really happy with the product. I’ve also bought other merchandise from their site, great designs on lots of products. Two thumbs up!

I’ve “set up shop” at both Etsy and CafePress too and, while I think they are both great places to buy unique gifts, it is a little hard to sell stuff unless you’ve already established a large network of buyers using conventional means. I recall (and agree with) a comment made by another Etsy seller, that is, that unless buyers see your items in the first few moments after posting, so much is being posted by others that your items move down quickly, only to never been seen by buyers again!

Not being one to give up too easily, I am in the process of establishing a second blog that I will devote to my eBay, Etsy and CafePress sites. Hopefully, the links from site to site will help.

Creating personalized gifts for baby showers is how I started my cafepress store, weeteeshirts.com . And as it turns out people started to buy them. Sadly, I am not looking to retire anytime soon. The site still pulls about 15-60 per month, with little to no work on my end. it is a great way to make money, you just need to make a good product.
