A Well-Designed Campaign

Thursday November 6, 2008
Putting political affiliations aside (after all, this isn't About Politics), I thought Barack Obama ran a very well-designed campaign... literally, from a graphic design perspective. His campaign website, President-Elect website, logo, Artists for Obama posters and the rest of the products in his store all exhibited great design sense, and clearly said "young, modern and American." I've always loved the look of vintage "vote for me" pins, and I was sure to pick up a couple from this table and take some of the good design home with me.

The red, blue, gray and white tones Shepard Fairey used for the VOTE and HOPE buttons are so nice. The tones make them look vintage and modern at the same time. Also is reminiscent of Warhol’s pop art silk screens of Marilyn Monroe.

Just what you want from a campaign. Sleek and crisp design, Clear message, spot on execution. From top to bottom the campaign was designed well.

I also think that use of a consitent color scheme and clean profressional design did his campaign well.
