New Yahoo! Logo?

TechCrunch reported today that maybe a new Yahoo! logo is coming soon... or maybe not. The new purple sans-serif was briefly spotted on the home page, and several variations have been spotted since. Perhaps Yahoo! is testing out the response, but one question remains... whether it's real or not, what do you think of it?

I like it! I think it’s quite funky, and it’s got a more chunky feel than the old one. Funky and chunky.

The original is bolder.
Don’t like it at all. It feels unfamiliar and doesn’t conjure up the same ideas about the original.
Was it inspired by Microsoft and Carl Icahn?

Real or not I like it. I think the colour purple and the new font makes the logo feel more ‘welcoming’ than the old one. I think having a fun / warm / welcoming logo and website is a good idea for a web based business that is aiming to attract eyeballs and get them to spend as much time on their site as possible.
