Super Bowl Logo Designs
Thursday January 31, 2008
With the big game upon us, I thought it would be interesting to look back at the branding of the Super Bowl, starting with the first logo in 1967 when the Packers beat the Chiefs in Super Bowl 1. It's clear the NFL has made no attempt to keep the logo design consistent, with dramatic changes from year to year. My personal favorites are clean and simple ones, Super Bowls 3 and 34. In the end, however, it wasn't the design, but rather the game, that made a logo stick in my head. I'll admit... I'm not the biggest of football fans, but the only one I even recognized was Super Bowl 25, when my favorite Giants won on a missed Buffalo field goal. We'll see if I remember this year's logo after Sunday's game.
